Why we modernize in stages

Full rewrites are risky. They take longer than planned, the old system keeps changing underneath them, and business rules buried in old code are easy to lose.

We usually work incrementally. Each stage delivers something usable, and the business never has to stop while the work happens.

  3. Introduce an API layer

  4. Replace in stages

    Rebuild components behind that interface one at a time, and retire the old ones once nothing uses them.
